Current Standing
I have no understanding of why I have been given a caution - I sent the police 100 pounds in cash to be used as expenses in explaining this to me
Since being given a caution until quite recently, I had only had one job interview (from the one employer that did not ask about criminal records beforehand) - a low level of frequency that has never happened before. In June 2012, I did actually receive another interview, but that doesn't prove anything as yet.
More preferably, I would prefer the police to address my suspicions in a more direct way. I have mentioned this already under 'Arrest'.
A direct response would involve
a specific reference to M.'s response to the issue of the recorded delivery letter
if M. states he handed it over to a third-party then I would expect M.'s reason as to why he told me the exact opposite (the police only become involved because of what M. said to me, so it is only natural that a policeman would enquire after this reason). Anyway, if M. really did contradict himself, the police would need to enquire further to ascertian which scenario is true.
M.'s reason as to why he should hand over a letter requesting the forwarding of mail to an uninterested third-party, complete with the envelope
and, above all, the police would need to clarify the situation when they checked the recorded delivery with the Post Office (or with the Post Office website, to be more precise)
This would hardly involve great effort on the part of the police - how long does it take to write a letter?
General Additional Notes
My complaints through local councillors have led, in 2011, to police coming around to enquire further, on two separate occsions. On both occasions, the police have left promising to look into my grievances - and that has been the last I have heard of them.
It was a hope that any recognition of theft of a recorded delivery letter might lead to the discovery of other possible thefts, e.g. the running shoes mentioned elsewhere. A couple of bank statements coinciding to the 'transitional period' (when I had just moved) have gone missing, as did some work from a student of mine (i.e. a different student from the one already mentioned elsewhere)
I believe my harasser has had other 'dealings' with the police but I have no further details.
I was told by a member of the police that my harasser was 'not local' and would probably not encounter him again. No further details were given but I assumed at the time that this implied a good chance that he had been sent to prison, because how otherwise would the police know where he was currently residing? I get the suspicion now that he still lives in Portsmouth. This doesn't my state of mind any good.
He hit me three times and the police just gave him a caution which, far from acting as a deterrent, was the exact opposite - he took it as a green light to harass me and threaten me more than before (with me escaping further assault by continually having to avoid 'meeting' him).
The police approached the matter of this escalated harassment and my attempt to take legal action to halt it by arresting me and giving me a penalty. To state the bleeding obvious - this is even less likely to be a deterrent. He has harassed me way, way beyond endurance and nothing has happened to him. He has complained to the police about me attempting to take legal action against him and the police have acted in accord with his wishes and penalized me. I am absolutely defenceless!!!!
